My PBL is on creating a song for a better understanding and memorable purpose for other students. Making a song was a choice, I thought to myself, 'yeah, that will be easy, I can do that', boy was I wrong. I love listening to music, my favorite song is Must be Nice and Lets Stay Together by Life Jennings. My love for music is another reason why I chose to do this project
Some functions I sing about are y=mx + b, the function to finding slope, what b is in the function, and etc. To make the song more interesting and able to be memorized, I used catchy lyrics and a song everyone has heard of. If you are learning a topic that is hard to understand, you could make up a song to help you keep it going in your mind, and to better understand it. Math is known in everything we do, known in in the many things we do in our lives. Anything that has something to do with space, time or thought would defiantly involve mathematics. As music is a form of communication, it helps connect to people, past the human intellect and into the soul. Communication is known throughout, music being one of the most common types people can connect to.
"Without music, teaching would be a mistake" one said. I wouldn't say that but music is actually a teaching mechanism that could be very useful, especially with having to memorizing things, in this case, equations. It is a perfect way to make learning happen. Like playing games and doing activities, singing is a way to help students learn and have fun at the same time.
